Some of the current LobbyByFax alerts include:

  • Keep New York's East and Harlem River Bridges Free!: Stop Gov. Cuomo's / Richard Ravitch's Plan to Toll NYC's Bridges! Use the link to get to the LobbyByFax.Com system, and sele ct New York State from the drop down menu box. All of New York's Albany delegation, the Governor, and the New York City Council are listed ; send a free fax to them and let them know you oppose any tolls on the Brooklyn , Williamsburg, Manhattan, Queensboro, Third and Willis Ave, and Harlem River bridges. A sample letter (which is used on the LobbyByFax East River toll action alert) is located here. Be heard and help stop tolling of all the East River and Harlem River crossings!
  • Stop Maryland, Montgomery, and Prince George's Counties' Expanded Use of Photo Radar, Red Light Cameras, and other Automated Traffic Enforcement! Send a free fax to Governor O'Ma lley as well to the Annapolis Legislature telling them to vote against the expansion of photo radar and other automated traffic enforcement and monitoring in Maryland. Tell them that these systems violate due process, place an unfair burden upon the registrant of the vehicle, are subject to "cloning", allowing malicious copies of license plates to be used to incu r culpability upon innocent registrants, and effectively set up a "pay to speed" system where those who can afford it can speed when desired. Go to the LobbyByFax Alerts Overview page and select t he "Maryland Photo Radar" alert, or go directly to the Stop Maryland's Use of Speed Cameras alert for state lawmakers and Governor O'Malley. Note: Please be sure to select Ma ryland from the initial state-selection drop-down menu.
  • Stop our Interstate Highways from being tolled!: Send a fax to Congress demanding that they do not allow tolls to be placed on free Interstates. We all pay a gas tax, we should n ot be taxed again with tolls! (As Pennsylvania is doing with I-80)
  • Stop the Recording Industry: The heavy-handed approach of the recording industry to block copying via digital rights management is a cheap attempt to have Congress and thus the A merican public pay for the failed policies of the Recording Industry. We should not tolerate, and Congress should not allow, the onerous restrictions which the Industry wishes to impose upon us, as the cost and loss of utility which such restrictions will create are incalculably greater than the minimal benefit in terms of higher profits which will be generated for the Industry .
  • Rebuild the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center: Although current plans to rebuild the World Trade Center provide for a moderately tall, 1,776 foot, "Freedom Tower", the skyli ne of NYC will never be restored without a rebuilding the Twin Towers of the WTC, and anything short of this goal will forever remain a tacit concession to those who destroyed them.

    General:

Because of the complex nature of toll discount availability depending upon the policies instituted by a given toll facility as well as the state of origin for one's E-Z Pass transponder, this list is intended to serve as a simple reference and basis for comparison of discounts from various E-Z Pass-affiliated toll facilities.

As an example, a customer of E-Z Pass from any state would receive a discounted toll rate on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. However, only customers of I-Pass (the E-Z Pass equivalent in the state of Illinois) and i-Zoom (the E-Z Pass equivalent in the state o f Indiana) would receive a discounted toll rate at the Indiana Toll Road facility.

In the case of New York City E-Z Pass customers, where one might suppose a uniform rate would exist, it is common to receive a discounted rate at one toll facility but not at another due to differing policies by the organization maintaining the separate t oll facilities.

Therefore, the lack of a standardized model of pricing throughout the E-Z Pass system (which includes the aforementioned variants of E-Z Pass) can lead to motorist confusion and allow toll facilities to benefit from this confusion by encouraging motorists to use their facilities under the belief that they would receive a discounted rate when, in many instances, that is not the case.

Moreover, because of the lack of a single standard for discounted toll rates, using the E-ZPass system can be frustrating as, should a motorist wish to obtain a discount at toll facilities which offer them, he would need to procur a dizzying variety of tr ansponder units issued by each participating state. In addition, the motorist would then have to keep each transponder on-hand in his vehicle and hope that only one unit is automatically charged while passing through a given toll facility.

The varying discounted toll rates extend even to states which offer E-Z Pass transponders from multiple state agencies (i.e., New York).

In the case of states which offer E-Z Pass service from multiple agencies, contained below is a listing of each individual agency, the toll facilities they maintain, the given agency's individual policies concerning toll discounts and to which motorists t hose discounts, if available, would apply.

Ordering Note: The following list is organized alphabetically by state. Included are individual listings for each organization responsible for administrating the various toll facilities of the given state.

Disclaimer/Note: The authors have no relationship with any toll authority other than as motorists. Additionally, the information contained herein is subject to change by the administrators of these tolling facilities, which may not be immediately r eflected on this page.
